MULTI-MODAL TRANSPORT STUDY
A453 Nottingham to M1 Junction 24 |
  |
Welcome to the A453 Multi-modal Transport Study website.
This Study is one of several similar
studies being carried out throughout the UK under the remit of Transport Minister
as part of the Governments Integrated Transport policy. The main purpose of
this study is to develop a strategy and programme for implementing solutions to the
transport problems in the A453 corridor
from now until the year 2021. The study process has been designed to provide you with the
opportunity to influence the environment in which you either live, work or spend your
leisure time.
This Website is dedicated to inform and
describe the study's Objectives and Programme and Approach on an
ongoing basis. In addition, it
provides a brief description of the study team and a forum for viewing electronic copies of all the
Newsletters and Reports produced throughout the course of the study.
The department of Transport Local Government and the Regions (DTLR) commissioned
by Pell Frischmann (PF) to carry out this study, which has been managed by the
Government Office for the East Midlands (GOEM). Close liaison has been
maintained with a similar study looking at north / south movements in the M1
Corridor between Sheffield and Leicester. Details of the M1 study can be found by clicking here.
The study has been undertaken in an open forum with consultations at key stages
during the process. A key feature has been a series of all day seminars
with the study Wider Reference Group, comprising representatives of over 100
local interest groups, agencies and authorities with a bona fide interest in the
A453 Corridor. The final seminar took place on 29th May 2002 when study
recommendations were presented. The series of seminars was supported by
study newsletters, media events and public consultation on emerging options.
The Study's Final Report detailing the recommended Transport Plan has been
published and has been available in the Reports section of this website since
the beginning of August. Hard copies are available for inspection at the
local public libraries, Council offices and through members of the Study Wider
Reference group. Copies of the report may be obtained from the Study Team
as a bound volume or in electronic format on a CD at a price of £50 per copy.
The East Midlands Regional Local Government Association are now responsible for
putting recommendations on the Study findings to the Minister by 26th September.
The main steps in this process comprise:
- Public Consultation through the Wider Reference Group
- 'One to One' meetings with key players, including Local Authorities and
transport providing agencies such as the Highways Agency, and the bus operators.
